Between July and September, the MECS Meetups social activity group took part in six sessions of pottery at Mud Gang studios in Waterloo. Over these weekly workshops sessions, the group learned a variety of skills and techniques to make pots, bowls, plates and mugs. The workshops were facilitated by the wonderful Sourabh who supported and instructed the group with great patience and warmth.
The best part of this activity, one of the group participants told us was: “learning how to play with mud (and) memories of childhood refreshed. It was a relaxing, calming process to beat stress & anxiety.”
In the past few months the group has also had trip to the Young Vic to see ‘Beneatha’s Place’, played football at the Black Prince Hub with Street Soccer London, and visited the an African Photography exhibition at Tate Modern.
“If it were not for counselling, I would not even have the courage to join the WCC outing. And I found the group facilitator very friendly, and he motivates me a lot… And the fact that there was a mixture of people in our group makes me happy because we got to speak about our experiences and culture, so I am so glad I joined the group.”
Our monthly Craft Club for women also continues to meet produces some beautiful works of art and craft pieces!
