Shaima is a Pakistani woman referred to Waterloo Community Counselling by Lambeth Talking Therapies. Shaima reported feeling depressed and anxious as a result of her experiences in Pakistan and ongoing familial difficulties she is having in the UK.
Shaima was offered 18 weeks of face-to-face counselling with a Urdu-speaking psychotherapist. During this time Shaima was able to usefully process some of the events which she had experienced, and the ongoing issues she was facing.
Shaima’s PHQ and GAD scores, which we use to monitor depression anxiety, attest to the incredible improvement in her mental health. Shaima went from severe to mild anxiety and depression during the course of counselling.

“For me, every moment from the first day to the last day with my counsellor was very beneficial. There was nobody who listens to me but my counsellor listened to everything I said with very great love and attention. All this is like a precious treasure for me which I will keep forever. I am so pleased with the counselling services provided. She was always been with concern towards listening to my feelings and emotions I wanted to express. She always console me with empathiness. I found her very friendly. She built a relationship of trust with me. So I could share my life with her. She has pure heart.”
