February 7th

The MECS Monday Meetups group got together for the very first time on a windy, sunny morning in February.

The group is a new project at WCC which offers refugees, asylum seekers and migrants a chance to meet up and enjoy interesting and unique activities in a relaxed and fun environment.

For the first meeting the group met at the WCC office in Waterloo for tea, biscuits and a few icebreaker games. 

One activity was marking on the map the country we were born in. 

Leaving the office we walked along the South Bank of the Thames, enjoying the winter sun and panoramic views of London.

Eventually we reached the world famous Tate Modern Gallery where we explored some of the artistic highlights on display in the Tate’s galleries and exhibitions. This was a fantastic way to kick of Monday Meetups and get all of us in the mood for future activities, events and fun times!

WCC would like to extend a special thank you to Catherine, Helena and Malcolm for joining us as volunteers for this group. We would not be able to run Monday Meetups without you, and really appreciate your giving up your time to be a part of this new project. 

March 14th 

On our second meeting we were delighted to be joined by a few new members, as well as some familiar faces from our February meeting.

This month we had the absolute pleasure of visiting Oasis Farm Waterloo. A small and very charming urban farm in the heart of Central London. We were met by Luke who showed us around the farm and introduced us to the gang of goats, lambs, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs who call Oasis Farm home!

We had a relaxing time enjoying the warm weather and a moment of rare tranquillity in the capital.
