Celebrating Summer Together: Refugee Social Group Highlights

Our refugee social groups have been soaking up the summer sunshine—gathering, exploring, and creating meaningful moments together.

In June, to celebrate Refugee Week, the group set off for a joyful day out. We began with a relaxed picnic in Hyde Park, enjoying good food and great company under blue skies. Then, we made our way to Kensington Palace—a long-awaited destination for many in the group. Thanks to our Community Access Scheme partnership with Historic Royal Palaces, we were able to offer this visit free of charge. The group was captivated by the grandeur of the palace, especially the rooms where Queen Victoria spent her childhood.

In July, we decided to stay closer to home and make the most of our own beautiful WCC garden. The group came together for a creative afternoon, working on a collaborative mosaic project and enjoying freshly made pizza. We ended the day with a peaceful mandala colouring session—bringing a calm and reflective close to a truly special gathering.
