Since January the WCC refugee and asylum-seeker social acitivity group has enjoyed numerous outings and activities!
In January we had the pleasure of attending a perfomance and workshop with the London Philarhmonic Orchestra, hosted at St John’s church in Waterloo. Since then, the group has also enjoyed visits to see the new Legion: Life in the Roman army exhibition at the British Museum and a trip to the Courtauld Gallery.
In March the group took part in a four week programme of art workshops hosted at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.
The group are working alongside brilliant artistic facilitators to explore how they can create art using their senses – this involved using wax, ink, collage and paint and pen whilst responding to all the senses.
This personal and collective approach allows the members of the group to feel connected to other members of the group and have their creations recognised and valued.
