Welcome to the WCC Blog

The core, fundamental purpose and mission of a therapeutic counselling service is to listen, to support and to help heal. WCC has been doing that determinedly since its foundation in 1980s. However, we thought that it was high-time that we, as an organisation, did a bit of our own speaking! I thought that now, perhaps more than ever, was a good time to start sharing some of our thoughts and experiences both.

After working to put together a newsletter it became clear that there was simply too much to say for a single document and we came to the conclusion that our musings and experiences justified a dedicated blog. This blog gives us the freedom to share the often unheard experiences of counsellors and their work with clients. However, having the blog does gives us a forum to provide detailed updates about the charity and to supplement the newsletters which will come out on a quarterly basis.

2020 has been a year of turmoil, reckoning and for some, trauma. It has also been a year of reflection and introspection. A year where we have been simultaneously stuck firmly in the present constantly looking forward to what we hope it is brighter, easier future.

The blog entries above are a collection of writings about the things that have had an impact on us a team and on individuals over the last year. We will also address contemporary issues as and when they present themselves; we will also use this platform as a way of marking, celebrating or acknowledging certain events and important matters in a considered and reflective manner.

Going forward this blog will be regularly updated with new pieces of writing from both the operational and clinical teams.

Disclaimer: please be aware that the thoughts and opinions featured in this blog are of various individuals who have been invited to write pieces based on their own experiences. Therefore the blog and its contents are not necessarily representative of the organisation.
